19-Year-Old Rookie Urabe Takes Stunning Debut Win in Porsche Carrera Cup Japan 2025
April 5th, 2025 – Suzuka Circuit
As a support race for the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix, Rounds 1 and 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Japan (PCCJ) 2025 were held at the iconic Suzuka Circuit.

After just two entries in the professional class in the 2023 season, five pro-class cars lined up for the season opener—signaling a highly competitive start to 2025.
Among them, 19-year-old rookie Kazuhisa Urabe made his professional debut and delivered an astonishing performance. With two years of experience in FIA-F4 and a few appearances in various formula and GT races, Urabe boldly challenged a stacked field including reigning champion Ito, and other seasoned drivers with SUPER GT and Super Formula experience.
In Round 1 on April 5th, Urabe battled through a safety car restart and overtook the leader with a decisive move through the chicane, securing his first career win in his very first pro-class race.
In Round 2 held on the morning of April 6th, while he narrowly missed the top spot, he finished second, putting him at the top of the drivers’ standings after the opening weekend.
With nine more races to go in the 2025 season, all eyes are now on Urabe to see if this sensational debut was just the beginning of a breakout year.
